4th Grade June newsletter
Mr. Conery    Mrs. Kelley   Mr. Lester

June is a busy month, since the students have many end of the year assessments that need to go into their portfolios for next year.

We have a field trip planned for June 4th and information is being sent home by Friday May 30th.  Students need to behave appropriately and do all assignments in order to participate in both the field trip and field day next week.

In Room 210 the students have been busy finishing up a portfolio of writings for the 4th quarter that consisted primarily of poems and narratives.

We have started our final Social Studies unit about the Original Thirteen Colonies in North America.  The students will be producing an informational essay about one of the colonies.

In Science we have completed the Life Structures unit and are beginning the Landforms unit this week.

We are continuing to work on division and multiplication while constantly reviewing everything from this year’s Math curriculum.

The kids have also been very busy preparing a play entitled “The Girls of the Round Table.”  We will be presenting it on Thursday, June 5th at 10:00 in the cafeteria.

Mrs. Kelly’s class has also been busy preparing their play, “The Montgomery Bus Boycott” and will be presenting it on Monday June 2nd at 9:30 in the cafeteria.

Mr. Lester’s students have also been spending time preparing their class play and are also working on the Original Thirteen Colonies.

In the literacy block they are working on vocabulary acquisition and word sorting skills.  They have been writing informational essays, and narratives based on graphic novels during Writers’ Workshop.

We would like to thank all the parents for your support and cooperation throughout this school year, especially those of you that were able to send in the sugar-free pops.  Enjoy the summer!
