As we return from February vacation, it is hard to believe that we are already half-way through third quarter!  The school year seems to be flying by.  Spring is around the corner, and hopefully we can look forward to some warmer weather.  As always, progress reports will be sent home at this time.  Not all students will be receiving one, but please make a conscious effort to check your child’s folder. 

The students have been engaged in some interesting units of study this quarter.  In Social Studies, we continue to learn about the History of Family Life.  We have been learning about how technology has changed and improved our lives.  Students have been comparing and contrasting things such a typewriter vs. a computer, and an automobile vs. a horse-drawn carriage.  By the end of our unit, students should be able to identify how and why our lives are made easier by technological advances.

In Science, we are studying Air and Weather.  The students will act as meteorologists, monitoring air and weather conditions.  They will learn that air is matter and it takes up space.  We will be comparing monthly and seasonal weather patterns using mathematical bar graphs.  Students will also be introduced to various instruments used by meteorologists.  This is a very hands-on unit with multiple, inquiry-based experiments.

A Few Reminders:
  Please make sure your child arrives at school on-time.
  We begin our instructional day promptly at 8:15 am.
  There will be no school on Friday, March 21^st (Good Friday).
